He has had a strong academic background and devoted many years in research including at the NIH as an HHMI scholar during medical school. He has always had a passion for founding a mental health clinic that focuses on evidence-based psychiatric care without all the bureaucracies including insurance company billings, notes, and other institutional challenges. Therefore, he founded MSC in Los Angeles which has become a very well-known center in LA because of their devotion to their patients and the quality of care they deliver. Dr. Khachi is currently on USC faculty and participates actively in CAP fellows education and mentorship. Because of this, there are opportunities to affiliate with excellent academic centers such as USC and UCLA for interested applicants.

The Mind Study Center (MSC) is a physician-owned, independent organization offering evidence-based psychiatric and psychological services in the Los Angeles area. While we do see adults, the majority of our patients are children and adolescents. Psychiatrists will work closely with therapists in delivering care.   • Full administrative support for all administrative matters such as scheduling, pharmacies requests, drafting letters, responding to patients’ messages regarding administrative concerns, etc.

  • Regular supervision for the first year with Steve Khachi, M.D.

  • Weekly clinical staff meetings, case conferences, and journal club

  • Professional membership (AACAP, AMA, APA) encouraged and reimbursed

  • State licensure, DEA certificate, and professional liability insurance (malpractice) covered

  • Annual educational/discretionary expenses each year

  • One hundred twenty (120) hours of paid time off (PTO) accrued per year, which may be used for sick leave or personal time off. PTO will accrue and carry over up to a maximum of 180 hours per year

  • 10 paid holidays each year

Psychiatrist Position Description:

  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to address mental health needs in children, adolescents, young adults, and their families

  • 100% outpatient with no weekends

  • Scholarly activities are encouraged and there are opportunities to teach and mentor psychiatry residents and fellows by affiliating with nearby academic centers such as USC and UCLA

  • Excellent opportunity for career development and advancing clinical skills

  • Provide on-site psychotherapy and psychiatric treatment to a diverse population of children, adolescents, and adults

  • Community involvement and public education strongly encouraged

  • Participate in effective case collaboration and monthly peer supervision

Position Requirements:

  • Active medical licensed to practice medicine in the State of California, valid NPI and DEA certificate.

  • Board-certified/board eligible in General Psychiatry and/or Child and Adolescent Psychiatry

  • Maintain and update pertinent clinical records and write progress notes in a timely manner

Reports to: Steve Khachi, M.D., Child, Adolescent, & Adult Psychiatrist

Compensation: DOE, credentials, and educational level/degree
